Author Marilyn A. Hudson presents an introduction to the topic of the UFO, the noted Air Force investigations that were supposed to provide answers, and the cases found in government records, local newspapers, and from local people.

9 in chronological order sharing when and where an object was reported, how it was explained and looks closer at what the witnesses actually said to ask questions. 

Some objects were probably weather balloons, experimental aircraft or top secret craft but some - some - were something much harder to explain despite eager attempts to call it something mundane.

Haunted Travels: Bodiam Castle

I've just returned from two weeks touring Ireland and the UK, among the most haunted places in the world. Suffice it to say, I've come bearing gifts. Paranormal postcards in the form of haunted tales from the places I visited. First on my stop is a haunted castle in Sussex, England.

In 1385, Sir Edward Dallingridge, knight and member of the English parliament, built the almost quintessential castle of Bodiam as a defense against French invaders and a lavish home to impress his compatriots. Over the centuries, as it is throughout much of Britain, a supernatural patina has built up on the stones of Bodiam Castle. The ghostly echo of medieval celebrations has been reported on several occasions, including raucous shouts in unfamiliar tongues and ancient music. A woman in red has been spotted now and then gazing distantly from windows in the towers. In 1994, a custodian spotted a child dressed in queerly Dickensian attire running in the direction of the castle but the boy vanished midway across the bridge.

Hudson is co-author of the 2010 horror novel, The Mound and is author of the fantasy fiction work The Sword of Anath.  She has also penned several historical non-fiction works, including Tales of Hell's Half Acre, When Death Rode the Rails, and Murderous Marriages. A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Writing...

An epic saga interrupted my writing and publishing plans causing problems, heartaches and many a disappointment along the way. I am happy to say that the long, dark night of hiatus is coming to an end. Manuscripts interrupted will be completed soon, and I believe they will be better for the simmering. I look forward to launching these long awaited titles and adding some new works.

Authors Marilyn A. Hudson and Cullan Hudson will be on hand at a Whorl Books booth on Sat. March 7, 2015 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds.  At 2 p.m. Marilyn A. Hudson will participate in a writer's panel with several other local authors.

 

 

The event formally releases the new book, "The Sword of Anath: The Warriors", a sharp edged fantasy novel.   Other works by Hudson include, Murderous Marriages, The Bones of Summer, When Death Rode the Rails, and she co-wrote the popular, The Mound.

 

Cullan Hudson, noted blogger and author of what has been called 'the definitive work on the strange in Oklahoma', Strange State. This popular title has been reissued several times due to high demand. He co-wrote the horror novel, The Mound and is currently working on a sequel to both books.

Whorl Books Author Will Participate in Writing Panel

Norman based author Marilyn A. Hudson will participate in a panel discussion during the Underground Monster Carnival, March 7, 2015 at the OKC Fairgrounds. Time to be announced.

Hudson is author, with Cullan Hudson,  of the horror novel, The Mound, a collection of chilling short stories, The Bones of Summer, and a collection of macabre true tales of love gone wrong, Murderous Marriages.

Plans are to release a new fantasy novel, The Sword of Anath during the March 7th event.

Later this year a sequel to The Mound will be nearing publication as well as a true crimes book, Into Oblivion.

Additional titles by Hudson include several historical monographs, When Death Rode the Rails, Tales of Hell's Half Acre and a history of storytelling in Oklahoma, Stories Center Stage.

Hudson is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in history and library-information studies.

Popular Children's Title Reissued

Reissue of ELEPHANT HIPS ARE EXPENSIVE by Marilyn A. Hudson with illustrations by Molly Lemmons Sparks Memories.

 

The popular children's story book about a group of children banding together in 1949 to help bring a new elephant to the zoo has been reissued with new illustrations.  Storyteller and author Molly Lemmons drew on her personal memories of childhood and being one of those money raising children to craft fun and whimsical graphics.

 

"I remember sitting in the audience at the Municipal Auditorium (Aka Civic Center Music Hall) while at a school wide concert," Molly recalls with a smile. "...and the emcee announcing: "Boys and Girls, you have bought an elephant for the Oklahoma City Zoo." The entire audience of elementary school children jumped to their feet and screamed and hollered to the top of their lungs. I was one of these children."

CHILDREN'S BOOK TO BE REISSUED SOON

WHORL BOOKS announces that a revised edition of ELEPHANT HIPS ARE EXPENSIVE, a children’s book by Marilyn A. Hudson, will be published in the near future.

The book, which traces how a small group of children struggle to finish raising money to bring a baby elephant to the zoo, is based on real events in the late 1940’s in Oklahoma City.  Children all across the state of Oklahoma raised money to bring a new elephant to the capitol city zoo.  Local newspapers featured fundraising graphs and updates

Adding to the story in this revised edition will be the whimsical illustrations of well known author and storyteller, Molly Lemmons. 

Her charming pictures add to a very special story sure to please any child and maybe a few adults who remember, like Molly, of being one of “Judy’s kids.”
